How to choose art for a living room

Choose for the room you actually live in: its scale, light, furniture and the feeling you want when you walk through the door.

Begin with the wall

Measure the usable wall area, not the whole room. Note nearby lamps, shelves and doors, then use our size filter to separate intimate pieces from work designed to hold a larger wall.

Choose a relationship with colour

Artwork can echo one existing colour, introduce a controlled contrast, or remain neutral while adding texture. It does not need to match every cushion.

Live with the shortlist

Open two or three artwork pages, view them at different times of day and confirm the final dimensions, availability and delivery with the artist.
